Symptoms

• Knocking or ringing sound from the engine (especially under load)
• Reduced engine power
• Increased fuel consumption
• Unstable engine idling
• Check Engine light comes on

Causes

• Poor fuel quality (low octane number)
• Faulty spark plug in cylinder 8
• Problems with fuel injectors (clogged or leaking)
• Malfunction of the knock sensor or its wiring
• Incorrect ignition timing

How to Fix

1. Check and, if necessary, replace the spark plug in cylinder 8
2. Assess the condition of the fuel injector of cylinder 8
3. Check the wiring and connections of the knock sensor
4. Use fuel with the recommended octane rating
5. Read engine parameters using an OBD-II scanner
