Causes

  • Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Poor contact in the sensor connector
  • Crankshaft position sensor malfunction
  • Damage to the crankshaft gear
  • Problems with the engine ECU

How to Fix

  1. Check the integrity of the sensor wiring and connectors
  2. Clean the connector contacts from oxides
  3. Check the sensor resistance (compare with the norm)
  4. Inspect the crankshaft gear for damage
  5. If necessary, replace the crankshaft position sensor
