Causes
- Open or short circuit in the wiring to the sensor
- Faulty valve position sensor
- Poor electrical connection or corroded connectors
- Flow control valve itself is faulty
- Problems with the engine ECU (rare)
How to Fix
- Visual inspection of wiring and connectors for damage and corrosion
- Checking the voltage and resistance of the sensor with a multimeter
- Cleaning electrical connector contacts
