Causes

  • Malfunction of the solenoid valve control of the exhaust valve of cylinder No. 4
  • Open or short circuit in control circuit wiring
  • Poor connection in solenoid valve connector
  • Engine control module (ECU) malfunction
  • Wiring harness damage

How to Fix

  1. Check the #4 cylinder solenoid valve wiring and connectors for damage or corrosion.
  2. Check the solenoid valve for resistance and functionality.
  3. Check the continuity of the control circuit from the ECU to the solenoid valve.
  4. Replace the faulty solenoid valve.
  5. Replace or reprogram the ECU if necessary.
