Symptoms

• The Check Engine light comes on
• Reduced engine power
• Increased fuel consumption
• Unstable engine idling
• Problems starting the engine

Causes

• Malfunction of the camshaft actuator position sensor
• Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
• Problems with the connector or wiring harness
• Malfunction of valve timing control
• Engine control module (ECU) malfunction

How to Fix

1. Check the continuity of the camshaft actuator position sensor circuit
2. Check the connector and wiring harness for damage
3. Check the sensor resistance (compare with standard values)
4. If necessary, replace the camshaft actuator position sensor
5. Check and, if necessary, update ECU software
