Symptoms

  • Increased steering effort (especially at low speeds)
  • Disappearance/appearance of the amplifier when the system warms up
  • Dashboard warning message (if equipped)
  • EPS/Power Steering light flashing

Causes

  • Steering system overload (holding the steering wheel in extreme positions for a long time)
  • Dirty or faulty EPS module ventilation ducts
  • Problems with the wiring harness or contacts (short circuit, frayed wires)
  • Low battery electrolyte level (causes increased load on the system)
  • Defective temperature sensor or EPS control module itself

How to Fix

  1. Allow the system to cool (15-30 minutes) and check for the error to reappear
  2. Visually inspect the EPS module for dirt/damage
  3. Check the condition of the wiring harness and connectors
  4. Perform a voltage/resistance test on the EPS temperature sensor circuit.
  5. If necessary, replace the power steering module (calibration required)
