Symptoms

  • The ABS, ESP or Brake light on the panel lights up
  • Disabling the stabilization system (ESP)
  • Hard or unstable brake pedal
  • Incorrect operation of ABS during emergency braking
  • Storing a fault code in the ECU memory

Causes

  • Malfunction or failure of the master cylinder pressure sensor
  • Open or short circuit in the sensor power supply circuit
  • Air or moisture getting into the brake line
  • ABS/ESP unit malfunction
  • Brake fluid leak in the sensor area

How to Fix

  1. Connect a diagnostic scanner and read all ABS/ESP fault codes
  2. Check the supply voltage and integrity of the pressure sensor wiring
  3. Inspect the brake master cylinder for brake fluid leaks.
  4. Replace the pressure sensor if it is confirmed to be faulty
  5. Bleed the brake system to remove air
  6. Reset codes and test drive to check functionality
