Causes
- Faulty intake valve VVT solenoid
- Contaminated or unsuitable engine oil
- Clogged oil channels of the VVT system
- Open or short circuit in solenoid wiring
- Camshaft position sensor malfunction
- Mechanical wear of the phase change system
- Low oil pressure in the system
- Engine control unit malfunction
How to Fix
- Check the level and quality of the engine oil, replace if necessary
- Diagnose the electrical circuit of the VVT solenoid with a multimeter
- Check solenoid resistance (usually 6-12 ohms)
- Inspect the wiring for damage, oxidation of contacts
- Clean or replace intake valve VVT solenoid
- Flush the oil channels of the phase change system
- Check the operation of the camshaft position sensor
- Test the oil pressure in the system
- Clear error memory and test drive
