- Difficulty starting the engine
- Engine knocking or knocking
- Uneven operation in transient conditions
Causes
- Faulty exhaust valve control solenoid
- Open or short circuit in solenoid wiring
- Contaminated engine oil
- Clogged oil channels of the VVT system
- Engine ECU malfunction
- Mechanical malfunction of the phase change mechanism
- Low oil pressure in the system
How to Fix
- Read and record all error codes using a diagnostic scanner
- Check the level and condition of the engine oil, replace if necessary
- Check electrical connections and VVT solenoid wiring
- Measure the solenoid resistance (should be 6-12 ohms)
- Check the supply voltage at the solenoid connector
- Remove and clean the solenoid from oil deposits
- If necessary, replace the faulty solenoid
- Clear error codes and test drive
- Recheck for errors
