Symptoms

- Unstable operation at idle
- Black or blue smoke from the exhaust pipe
- Whistling sounds from turbocharger
- Check Engine Light Illuminates
- Poor acceleration response
Causes
- Broken or damaged wiring to the bypass valve solenoid
- Short circuit in control circuit
- Bypass valve solenoid malfunction
- Mechanical jamming of the bypass valve
- Corrosion or oxidation of contacts
- Engine control unit malfunction
- Low system voltage
- Clogged vacuum lines
How to Fix
- Connect a diagnostic scanner and read all error codes
- Visually check the condition of the wiring to the bypass valve solenoid
- Measure the resistance of the valve solenoid (usually 20-30 ohms)
- Check the supply voltage at the solenoid connector with the engine running.
- Test valve operation using a vacuum pump
- Clean or replace solenoid if necessary
- Check and clean vacuum lines
- Replace damaged wiring or connectors
- Clear error memory and test drive
- If necessary, replace the entire bypass valve actuator
