Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Illuminates
- Unstable engine operation at idle
- Increased fuel consumption
- Difficulty starting the engine
- Reduced engine power
- Black smoke from the exhaust pipe
Causes
- Broken wiring of the intake air temperature sensor
- Short circuit in the sensor circuit to power
- IAT2 sensor malfunction
- Oxidation or corrosion of connector contacts
- Wiring harness damage
- Engine ECU malfunction
How to Fix
- Connect a diagnostic scanner and read all error codes
- Check the supply voltage of the IAT2 sensor (should be 5V)
- Measure sensor resistance at different temperatures
- Inspect wiring and connectors for damage
- Check the continuity of the circuit between the sensor and the ECU
- If necessary, replace the intake air temperature sensor
- Clear error codes and test drive
- Recheck for errors
