Causes

  • Turbocharger/supercharger boost sensor malfunction
  • Open or shorted sensor wiring harness
  • Poor contact in the sensor connector
  • Leaks in the charging system (turbine or intercooler)
  • Turbocharger/supercharger mechanical problems
  • Engine ECU malfunction

How to Fix

  1. Check the integrity of the wiring harness and sensor connectors
  2. Check the serviceability of the boost sensor (resistance, voltage)
  3. Inspect the boost system for leaks
  4. If necessary, replace the boost sensor
  5. Clear error codes and check for reoccurrence of P0240
