Causes
- Bypass valve position sensor malfunction
- Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
- Oxidation of the sensor connector
- Mechanical damage to the sensor
- ECU malfunction (rare)
How to Fix
- Read error codes and check for adjacent codes
- Check the 5 V supply voltage at the sensor connector
- Measure the output voltage of the sensor at different valve positions
- Check the wiring harness for opens and shorts
- Clean the sensor connector
- If necessary, replace the position sensor or bypass valve assembly
