Causes

  • Damage to the ring gear on the flywheel/damper

  • Incorrect ignition timing setting
  • Timing belt/chain slippage

How to Fix

  1. Check the condition of the crankshaft position sensor and its fastening
  2. Inspect the ring gear on the flywheel/damper for damage
  3. Check the wiring and connectors of the sensor for breaks and oxidation
  4. Check that the valve timing is set correctly
