Symptoms

Causes

  • Open or short circuit in control circuit wiring harness
  • Faulty ignition coil
  • Poor contact in coil or ECU connectors
  • Problems with power or ground of the ignition coil
  • Engine ECU malfunction
  • Contact corrosion
  • Damage to wire insulation

How to Fix

  1. Check the condition of the control circuit wiring harness for damage.
  2. Check the ignition coil and ECU connectors for oxidation and connection reliability.
  3. Measure the resistance of the ignition coil
  4. Check the power and ground of the ignition coil
  5. If necessary, replace the ignition coil
  6. If the problem persists, you can check the ECU output signal with an oscilloscope
  7. As a last resort, replace the engine ECU
