$6–56 (est.)
Symptoms
- Check Engine light is on
- Unstable operation of the EGR system
- Increased fuel consumption
- Increased NOx emissions
- In some cases - harsh engine operation under load
- Emergency EGR control mode possible
Causes
- Faulty EGR temperature sensor B
- Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
- Oxidation or corrosion of the sensor connector
- Damage to wiring due to high temperatures (sensor located in hot gas area)
- Clogged or leaking EGR system
- ECU malfunction (rare)
How to Fix
- Read all error codes with scanner
- Check the voltage in the EGR temperature sensor circuit B with the ignition on
- Inspect the wiring and connector for melts, insulation cracks, and oxidation.
- Measure the resistance of the sensor (NTC thermistor) and compare with the table of values
- Check the sensor ground circuit
- Replace EGR temperature sensor B if the fault is confirmed
- Clean the EGR system from carbon deposits if necessary.
- Reset the code and take a test drive
