Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Is On
- Increased emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx)
- Detonation under load at high engine temperatures
- Decreased fuel efficiency
- Rough engine operation under load
- Possible emergency mode with limited operation of the EGR
Causes
- Faulty EGR valve solenoid B
- Open or shorted valve wiring
- Oxidation or damage to the valve connector
- Clogged or mechanically jammed EGR valve B
- Malfunction of the EGR system control relay
- ECU malfunction (control output transistor)
How to Fix
- Read all error codes - pay attention to the accompanying EGR codes
- Find the EGR valve B using the car's wiring diagram
- Check the supply voltage and grounding of the valve connector
- Measure the resistance of the valve solenoid (normal: 10–30 ohms)
- Check the control circuit from the computer to the valve for open and short circuits
- Clean the valve and its seat from carbon deposits
- Replace EGR valve B if electrical fault is confirmed
- Reset the code and take a test drive
