Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Increased emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx)
  • Detonation under load at high engine temperatures
  • Decreased fuel efficiency
  • Rough engine operation under load
  • Possible emergency mode with limited operation of the EGR

Causes

  • Faulty EGR valve solenoid B
  • Open or shorted valve wiring
  • Oxidation or damage to the valve connector
  • Clogged or mechanically jammed EGR valve B
  • Malfunction of the EGR system control relay
  • ECU malfunction (control output transistor)

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes - pay attention to the accompanying EGR codes
  2. Find the EGR valve B using the car's wiring diagram
  3. Check the supply voltage and grounding of the valve connector
  4. Measure the resistance of the valve solenoid (normal: 10–30 ohms)
  5. Check the control circuit from the computer to the valve for open and short circuits
  6. Clean the valve and its seat from carbon deposits
  7. Replace EGR valve B if electrical fault is confirmed
  8. Reset the code and take a test drive
