Symptoms

• Check Engine Light Is On
• Smell of gasoline in the cabin or under the hood

Causes

• Clogged EVAP purge valve (does not open)
• Blocked carbon adsorber
• Open or short circuit in sensor wiring
• Faulty purge flow sensor
• Kinked or clogged EVAP hoses
• Frozen purge valve in winter

How to Fix

1. Read all codes and check data in real time using scanner
2. Make sure that the purge valve receives power and control signal from the ECU
3. Check the purge valve: disconnect and purge manually - it should be closed without power and open when 12V is supplied
4. Inspect the EVAP system hoses for blockages, kinks, or breaks.
5. Check the carbon adsorber for saturation or mechanical damage.
6. Measure the resistance and voltage of the flow sensor; compare with the norm according to the documentation
7. Replace the faulty element (valve, adsorber or sensor)
8. Reset codes and take a test drive
