EVAP Purge Flow Sensor Circuit Low
Severity
✅ LowCan you drive?
Do not drive — repair immediately
Approx. repair cost
$17–100 (est.)
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Is On
- Smell of gasoline in the cabin or under the hood
- Decreased fuel efficiency
- Possible failures during overclocking
- Difficulty starting the engine
- Storing fuel vapors instead of burning them increases exhaust toxicity
Causes
- Clogged EVAP purge valve (does not open)
- Blocked carbon adsorber
- Open or short circuit in sensor wiring
- Faulty purge flow sensor
- Kinked or clogged EVAP hoses
- Frozen purge valve in winter
How to Fix
- Read all codes and check data in real time using scanner
- Make sure that the purge valve receives power and control signal from the ECU
- Check the purge valve: disconnect and purge manually - it should be closed without power and open when 12V is supplied
- Inspect the EVAP system hoses for blockages, kinks, or breaks.
- Check the carbon adsorber for saturation or mechanical damage.
- Measure the resistance and voltage of the flow sensor; compare with the norm according to the documentation
- Replace the faulty element (valve, adsorber or sensor)
- Reset codes and take a test drive
