Symptoms

- Unstable engine operation at idle

Causes
- Faulty EVAP purge flow sensor
- Clogged or damaged purge valve
- Cracks or breaks in EVAP hoses
- Sensor contamination with fuel vapor or oil
- Electrical connection failure in the sensor circuit
- ECU malfunction (rare)
How to Fix
- Read and write down all error codes; check for related EVAP codes
- Visually inspect EVAP system hoses for cracks, kinks, and disconnections.
- Check the electrical connector of the purge flow sensor: oxidation, damaged contacts
- Measure the supply voltage and signal wire of the sensor with a multimeter
- Replace the purge flow sensor if the readings deviate
- Check the purge valve: apply voltage directly, make sure it opens/closes
- Check the EVAP system for leaks using a smoke machine
- Reset codes and test drive to confirm troubleshooting
