Symptoms

• Check engine light is on
• Possible difficulties when refueling
• Increased fuel consumption (in some cases)

Causes

• Open or short circuit in valve wiring harness
• EVAP solenoid valve malfunction
• Corrosion or poor contact in connectors
• Relay or fuse problem
• Malfunction of the engine control unit (rare)

How to Fix

1. Check the integrity of the wiring harness to the valve
2. Check valve resistance (should be between 10-50 ohms)
3. Inspect connectors for corrosion or damage
4. Check the voltage at the valve connector when the ignition is turned on.
5. Replace faulty valve if necessary
6. Clear error memory and check if code is returned
