Symptoms

• Check Engine Light Is On
• The system does not confirm that the fuel filler cap is locked.
• There may be problems opening the lid with the button
• Errors in the operation of the fuel filler access control system

Causes

• Broken lock position sensor circuit wire
• Short circuit to power in the sensor circuit
• Faulty lock position sensor/switch
• Oxidation or damage to the sensor connector
• ECU malfunction

How to Fix

1. Read error codes with a scanner and record the data
2. Find the fuel tank cap lock position sensor according to the diagram
3. Check the voltage at the sensor connector with a multimeter
4. Check resistance and wiring integrity
5. Inspect the connector for oxidation and damage.
6. Replace the sensor if it is confirmed to be faulty
7. Reset the error and take a test drive
