Symptoms

• Check Engine light comes on
• Reduced engine power
• Increased fuel consumption
• Unstable idling

Causes

• Open or short circuit in the EGT sensor circuit
• Exhaust gas temperature sensor malfunction
• Poor contact in the sensor connector
• Wiring harness damage
• Malfunction of the engine control unit (rare)

How to Fix

1. Check the continuity of the EGT sensor circuit (resistance, voltage)
2. Inspect the sensor connectors and contacts for corrosion or damage.
3. Check resistance and signal of EGT sensor
4. Replace exhaust gas temperature sensor if necessary
5. Check the condition of the wiring harness
6. Reset the error and test the system after repair
