Symptoms

  • Increased steering effort
  • Uneven effort when turning the steering wheel
  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Unstable operation of the hydraulic booster

Causes

  • Malfunction of the hydraulic booster pressure sensor
  • Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Poor contact in the sensor connector
  • Low power steering fluid level
  • Corrosion of contacts or wiring

How to Fix

  1. Check the power steering fluid level
  2. Visually inspect the sensor wiring and connectors
  3. Check the voltage and resistance of the sensor with a multimeter
  4. Replace the power steering pressure sensor if necessary
  5. Clean or replace damaged wires
