Do not drive — repair immediately
Approx. repair cost
$22–167 (est.)
Symptoms
- Cruise control doesn't work at all
- Check Engine Light Illuminates
- Lack of servo response to control commands
- Possible ECU fault code (internal output error)
Causes
- Servo control circuit short to ground
- Closing two wires of the servo circuit together
- Internal short circuit in the actuator winding to the housing
- Damage to wire insulation (friction against sharp edges of the body)
- ECU output stage malfunction
How to Fix
- Disconnect the servo connector and check if the code disappears (to isolate the fault)
- Measure the resistance between the servo drive control terminals and ground (should not be close to zero)
- Test the control circuit wires from the ECU to the servo drive for a short to ground.
- Inspect the wiring for signs of insulation chafing
- If the wiring is correct, replace the servo drive
- If the servo drive is working properly, diagnose the ECU output stage
