Symptoms
- Cruise control does not work or does not work correctly
- Check Engine light is on
- Cannot activate or hold set speed
- Spontaneous disabling of cruise control while driving
- In some cases, unstable engine operation
Causes
- Short circuit to power in the cruise control servo circuit
- Damaged or broken wiring between the ECU and the servo drive
- Faulty cruise control servo
- Poor contact in the servo or ECU connector
- ECU malfunction (rare)
How to Fix
- Read all error codes and check for associated cruise control codes
- Inspect the cruise control servo wiring and connectors for damage, oxidation, or short circuits.
- Measure the voltage in the servo control circuit with the ignition on - must meet specification
- Check the resistance of the servo drive circuit and compare with the reference values
- If necessary, replace the cruise control servomotor
- After repair, reset error codes and check system operation
