Symptoms

  • Cruise control does not work or does not work correctly
  • Check Engine light is on
  • Cannot activate or hold set speed
  • Spontaneous disabling of cruise control while driving
  • In some cases, unstable engine operation

Causes

  • Short circuit to power in the cruise control servo circuit
  • Damaged or broken wiring between the ECU and the servo drive
  • Faulty cruise control servo
  • Poor contact in the servo or ECU connector
  • ECU malfunction (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes and check for associated cruise control codes
  2. Inspect the cruise control servo wiring and connectors for damage, oxidation, or short circuits.
  3. Measure the voltage in the servo control circuit with the ignition on - must meet specification
  4. Check the resistance of the servo drive circuit and compare with the reference values
  5. If necessary, replace the cruise control servomotor
  6. After repair, reset error codes and check system operation
