Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Is On
- Economy mode is activated unstable or switches spontaneously
- The Eco Mode button responds to pressing, but the mode is not held
- Unstable operation of functions related to Eco Mode (gas pedal, gear shift)
- Eco indicator appears and disappears periodically on the panel
Causes
- Partial oxidation or contamination of switch contacts
- Worn mechanical contacts inside the switch
- Moisture entering the switch connector, changing the resistance
- Unreliable contact in the connector (intermittent disconnection)
- Initial stage of switch failure
How to Fix
- Read frozen frame codes and data with a diagnostic scanner
- Inspect the Eco Mode switch and its connector for moisture, oxidation, and mechanical damage
- Clean the connector contacts with a special contact agent.
- Using a multimeter, measure the resistance of the switch in the pressed and released positions and compare with the standard values from the service manual
- If the resistance deviates from the norm, replace the switch
- After the repair, erase the codes and check the operation of Eco Mode in real conditions
