A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor A Circuit Intermittent/Erratic

Severity
Low
Can you drive?
Yes, but get it checked soon
Approx. repair cost
$22–78 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • The air conditioner turns on and off periodically for no apparent reason
  • Unstable air temperature in the cabin when the air conditioning is turned on
  • Noise or vibration from the compressor when turned on randomly
  • Complete shutdown of the air conditioner in emergency mode

Causes

  • Poor contact in refrigerant pressure sensor connector A
  • Crack or break in the harness wire in the compressor area due to vibration
  • Oxidation of sensor connector contacts
  • Unstable reference voltage in the sensor circuit
  • Incipient failure of the pressure sensor itself

How to Fix

  1. Read fault codes; check sensor A data in real time when the air conditioner is running
  2. Inspect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector A: move the harness, observing the signal change
  3. Check the stability of the reference voltage (5 V) and the ground of the sensor
  4. Inspect the harness in the compressor area for abrasions, cracks, contact with hot or rotating parts
  5. Clean the connector contacts, replace the connector if necessary
  6. Replace the refrigerant pressure sensor A if it is confirmed to be faulty
