P05E2

A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor B Circuit Intermittent/Erratic

Severity
Low
Can you drive?
Yes, but get it checked soon
Approx. repair cost
$22–78 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Unstable air conditioner efficiency
  • Spontaneous shutdown of the air conditioner in emergency mode
  • Cooling fans run at maximum speed for no apparent reason
  • Increased fuel consumption due to incorrect compressor control

Causes

  • Poor contact in refrigerant pressure sensor connector B
  • Damage to the wiring harness in the area of vibrating units
  • Corrosion of sensor connector contacts from exposure to moisture and reagents
  • Unstable reference voltage common to sensors A and B
  • Incipient failure of pressure sensor B itself

How to Fix

  1. Read fault codes; if both P05E1 and P05E2 are active, check the general power supply to the pressure sensors
  2. Check sensor B data in real time while the air conditioner is running
  3. Inspect sensor connector B: move the harness, observing signal changes
  4. Measure the stability of the 5 V reference voltage and the quality of the ground in the sensor B circuit
  5. Check the condition of the harness in the compressor and condenser area
  6. Replace the refrigerant pressure sensor B if it is confirmed to be faulty
