Symptoms

• Check Engine Light or ABS/ESP Warning Light Is On
• Disabling the Hill Start Assist function
• Incorrect operation of the start-stop system
• Possible false activation of ABS when starting off
• Parking brake warning

Causes

• Faulty or worn parking brake sensor
• Incorrect sensor adjustment
• Contamination or corrosion of the sensor and connector
• Break or short circuit in the wiring
• Mechanical problems with the parking brake mechanism

How to Fix

1. Read error codes, check sensor parameters with a scanner
2. Inspect the parking brake sensor and its connector
3. Check the signal voltage at different positions of the parking brake lever
4. Check and adjust the parking brake mechanism
5. Check the sensor wiring for open circuit and short circuit.
6. Replace the sensor if the fault is confirmed
