Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light and/or AdBlue Warning Light Is On
  • SCR system does not activate in cold weather
  • Possible engine power limitation
  • Low or faulty AdBlue warning
  • Freezing of the reagent in the tank during frost

Causes

  • Malfunction of the heater module power supply wiring (open circuit, short circuit)
  • Reduced on-board voltage (faulty generator, battery)
  • Heater power relay malfunction
  • Damage or oxidation of heater module connectors
  • Malfunction of the heater control module itself

How to Fix

  1. Read all codes, pay attention to AdBlue and SCR system codes
  2. Check the voltage of the on-board network (normal: 13.5–14.5 V with the engine running)
  3. Check AdBlue heater circuit fuse
  4. Inspect the heater control module connectors for oxidation.
  5. Check heater power relay
  6. Diagnose the heater control module using a specialized scanner
