Symptoms

  • In some cases, associated CAN bus errors

Causes

  • Status signal line short to ground
  • Open power supply circuit for status signal
  • Malfunction of the start-stop system control unit
  • Faulty sensor supplying data to the system
  • Damage to connector or wiring

How to Fix

  1. Read codes, check all errors in the start-stop and CAN systems
  2. Check the voltage on the status signal line with the ignition on
  3. Check the signal wire for short circuit to ground (resistance of wire to ground)
  4. Inspect the connectors of the start-stop system control unit
  5. Check the correct operation of the connected units (battery, automatic transmission)
  6. Diagnose the start-stop system control unit
