Symptoms

  • The Check Engine light comes on
  • Simultaneous occurrence of errors from multiple sensors
  • Unstable engine operation, jerking, failures
  • Incorrect sensor readings when diagnosing with a scanner
  • Emergency engine operation

Causes

  • Internal malfunction of the ADC in the ECU
  • Unstable 5V reference voltage for sensors
  • Interference in analog sensor signal circuits
  • Unstable power supply to the ECU
  • Damage to the ECU firmware

How to Fix

  1. Check the 5V reference voltage at the sensor connectors (normal 4.8–5.2 V)
  2. Check power supply and grounding of the ECU
  3. Read the data of all sensors with a scanner - evaluate whether there are any false readings at the same time
  4. Check shielding and routing of analog sensor circuits
  5. If an internal ADC malfunction is confirmed, repair or replace the ECU
