Symptoms

• The Check Engine light comes on
• Automatic transmission in emergency mode
• Incorrect interaction between engine and transmission
• Errors in two control units at once
• Problems after replacing the ECU or TCM

Causes

• Installing an engine ECU without pairing with the TCM
• Installing TCM without pairing with engine ECU
• Incompatible ECU and TCM software versions
• Corruption of identification data in the memory of one of the blocks
• Replacing blocks from a different model or year of manufacture

How to Fix

1. Read error codes from both units - ECU and TCM
2. Check VIN and software versions of both units
3. Make sure the installed units are compatible according to the spare parts catalog
4. Perform the pairing procedure between the ECU and TCM via a dealer scanner
5. If the software is incompatible, update the firmware of one or both units
6. Contact an Authorized Dealer for Programming
