Symptoms

  • The Check Engine light comes on
  • Hard or incorrect automatic transmission shifting
  • Malfunctions of the ESP stabilization system
  • Sudden loss of traction when accelerating
  • Transmission emergency mode

Causes

  • Internal torque calculation error in the ECU
  • Incorrect data from the throttle position sensor
  • Incorrect data from the mass air flow sensor
  • Mismatch between torque calculation algorithms in ECU firmware
  • Interference on the CAN bus distorting load data

How to Fix

  1. Read all codes - look for MAF (P0100-P0104) and TPS (P0120-P0124) errors
  2. Check the actual readings of the MAF and TPS sensors using a scanner
  3. Check the intake tract for air leaks
  4. Check for ECU firmware updates
  5. Diagnosis of the computer in the absence of other faults
  6. Clean EGR system at high mileage
