Symptoms
- The Check Engine light and immobilizer light come on
- The engine does not start or starts and immediately stalls
- The immobilizer indicator on the instrument panel is flashing
- The problem occurs after replacing the ECU or key
- All the keys suddenly stopped working
Causes
- Using an unprogrammed key
- Installing a used ECU without reprogramming the immobilizer
- Damage to the immobilizer memory in the ECU
- Random reset of the key database during reprogramming
- Malfunction of the immobilizer antenna (coil in the ignition switch)
How to Fix
- Make sure you are using the correct key for the vehicle.
- Check the immobilizer antenna (coil around the ignition switch)
- Try the second key - if available
- Key programming via dealer scanner
- When installing a used ECU - complete immobilizer binding procedure
- Contact an authorized dealer if you do not have working keys
