Symptoms

• Check Engine Light Is On
• The air conditioner is operating at reduced efficiency or is not cooling
• Constant on/off air conditioning compressor
• Increased load on the engine when climate control is operating
• The air conditioning system goes into emergency mode

Causes

• Compressor capacity control solenoid valve malfunction
• Open or short circuit in the control valve circuit
• Air conditioning compressor relay malfunction
• Damaged control valve wiring or connector
• Internal fault of the ECU or climate control module

How to Fix

1. Read all error codes, including climate control system codes
2. Visually inspect the compressor control valve and its wiring
3. Measure the resistance of the valve winding (for the norm, see the manual)
4. Check the presence of power and PWM control signal on the valve
5. Replace faulty compressor capacity control valve
6. Reset error codes, check the operation of the air conditioner
