Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Is On
- Reduced engine power and thrust
- Increased fuel consumption
- Possible real detonation (knock) at high loads
- The ECU sets a safe late ignition angle
Causes
- Internal malfunction of the knock sensor processor in the ECU
- Damage to the ECU due to overheating or moisture
- Electrostatic discharge damaging the signal processor
- Software error or ECU firmware failure
- Physical damage to the knock sensor, distorting the signal
How to Fix
- Read error codes, check for knock sensor codes P0325–P0334
- Check the functionality of the knock sensors themselves and their wiring
- If the sensors are working properly, carry out a full diagnostic of the ECU.
- Try updating the ECU firmware (if there is an update from the manufacturer)
- If an internal fault is confirmed, repair or replace the ECU
- Reset codes, perform load test
