Symptoms

• Check Engine Light Is On
• Possibly difficult cold start
• The computer cannot correctly control the heating of the combustion chamber of cylinder 1
• White smoke on cold start
• Unstable engine warm-up

Causes

• Installing a glow plug of the wrong type or manufacturer
• Using a non-original spark plug with excellent electrical characteristics
• Degradation of the original spark plug with a change in its resistance
• Error when selecting a spare part
• Installing a spark plug with a different nominal voltage (6V instead of 12V or vice versa)

How to Fix

1. Read error codes and record frozen frame data
2. Determine the correct type and article number of the glow plug for a given engine from the catalog
3. Check the characteristics of the installed spark plug (resistance, markings)
4. Replace the spark plug with an original one or a recommended analogue with identical parameters
5. Make sure the spark plug is tightened correctly (torque according to the manual)
6. Reset error codes and check for errors
