Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Is On
- Possibly difficult cold start
- The computer cannot correctly control the heating of the combustion chamber of cylinder 1
- White smoke on cold start
- Unstable engine warm-up
Causes
- Installing a glow plug of the wrong type or manufacturer
- Using a non-original spark plug with excellent electrical characteristics
- Degradation of the original spark plug with a change in its resistance
- Error when selecting a spare part
- Installing a spark plug with a different nominal voltage (6V instead of 12V or vice versa)
How to Fix
- Read error codes and record frozen frame data
- Determine the correct type and article number of the glow plug for a given engine from the catalog
- Check the characteristics of the installed spark plug (resistance, markings)
- Replace the spark plug with an original one or a recommended analogue with identical parameters
- Make sure the spark plug is tightened correctly (torque according to the manual)
- Reset error codes and check for errors
