Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Possibly difficult cold starting of the engine
  • Incorrect heating of the combustion chamber of cylinder 3
  • Some white smoke when starting in cold weather
  • Unstable engine operation when warming up

Causes

  • Installing a glow plug of an incompatible type or with a different resistance
  • Using a non-original part with excellent electrical performance
  • Degradation of an installed spark plug with a change in resistance to inappropriate values
  • The article numbers were mixed up when purchasing a candle.
  • Installing a spark plug from a different engine model

How to Fix

  1. Read error codes and determine what type of glow plug is required for a given engine
  2. Check the markings of the installed spark plug with the manufacturer’s catalog
  3. Measure the resistance of the cylinder 3 spark plug and compare it with the standard for the correct type.
  4. Purchase and install a glow plug of the exact part number for a given engine
  5. Tighten the spark plug to the required torque according to the technical manual
  6. Reset error codes and check for errors
