Symptoms

  • Check Engine light on
  • Slow response of vehicle systems when the ignition is turned on
  • Increased battery consumption in parking mode
  • Unstable behavior of electronic systems
  • Delays when starting the engine or vehicle systems

Causes

  • Damage to the wiring of the control unit wake-up circuit
  • Malfunction of the control unit that does not exit from standby mode
  • Another module is faulty and is generating an incorrect wake-up signal.
  • Problems with the CAN or LIN bus
  • Low battery leading to incorrect initialization of blocks

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes - with P06E4, CAN bus errors are often present
  2. Check battery voltage and generator operation
  3. Inspect the connectors and wiring of the control unit that recorded the error
  4. Check for stray current consumption (more than 50 mA in parking mode)
  5. Diagnose the CAN bus for communication errors
  6. If a malfunction is confirmed, contact a specialized service
