Symptoms

  • Check Engine light on
  • Glow plugs do not warm up properly
  • Difficult cold start of a diesel engine
  • The pre-heating lamp behaves unusually
  • Additional fault codes for individual cylinder spark plugs are possible.

Causes

  • Internal malfunction of spark plug control module circuits
  • Unstable power supply or poor module grounding
  • Violation of data exchange between the module and the ECU
  • Overheating or damage to the control module
  • Poor quality power supply to the on-board network (voltage surges)

How to Fix

  1. Check the supply voltage and quality of grounding of the glow plug control module 1
  2. Make sure that the data exchange between the module and the ECU is correct
  3. Check the operation of individual glow plugs
  4. Read extended module diagnostic data by scanner
  5. If there are no external reasons, replace the glow plug control module
  6. Make sure the system works correctly after replacement
