Symptoms
- Check Engine light on
- Glow plugs do not work correctly
- Difficult cold start
- Possible error codes for individual glow plug cylinders
- The pre-heating lamp does not go out or light up
Causes
- Damage to the flash memory of the spark plug control module due to voltage drop
- Exposure to electromagnetic interference
- Physical wear and tear of memory cells
- Moisture getting into the internal circuits of the module
- Poor quality power supply to the on-board network (voltage surges)
How to Fix
- Check the supply voltage and quality of grounding of the glow plug control module
- Make sure there are no voltage surges in the on-board network (check the battery and generator)
- Try resetting the error - in rare cases, a one-time memory failure can be eliminated by resetting
- If the error returns, replace the glow plug control module 1
- Make sure that the new module is flashed with the correct firmware version
- Check the operation of the glow plug system after replacement
