Symptoms

• Problems starting the engine (the starter does not work)
• Incorrect display of selector position on the instrument panel
• Transmission does not shift properly
• Check Engine Light Is On
• The car may not come out of parking mode

Causes

• Faulty P/N position switch
• Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
• Oxidized or damaged contacts in connectors
• Wiring Harness Problems
• Transmission control module (TCM) malfunction

How to Fix

1. Check the condition and operation of the P/N switch
2. Check the integrity of the circuit and connection
3. Clean connector contacts
4. Check resistance and sensor signals
5. If necessary, replace the P/N switch
