Symptoms

  • Incorrect gear shifting
  • The car goes into emergency gearbox mode
  • Check Engine light comes on
  • Loss of power or jerking when shifting gears
  • Increased engine speed when switching

Causes

  • Open circuit in solenoid control circuit
  • Shift Solenoid A Malfunction
  • Problems with wiring harness or contacts
  • Transmission control module (TCM) malfunction
  • Short circuit in the circuit

How to Fix

  1. Check the integrity of the solenoid control circuit
  2. Check the resistance and operation of the solenoid
  3. Inspect the wiring harness and contacts for damage
  4. If necessary, replace shift solenoid A
  5. Check and, if necessary, replace the transmission control unit
