Symptoms

  • Hard gear shifting
  • Transmission transition to emergency mode
  • Fault indication on the instrument panel
  • Reduced efficiency of the hybrid system (for hybrids)
  • Increased transmission noise

Causes

  • Open or short circuit in wiring
  • Auxiliary pump control module malfunction
  • Poor contact in connectors
  • Problems with the pump circuit relay or fuse
  • Transmission control module (TCM) malfunction

How to Fix

  1. Check the integrity of the wiring and connectors in the pump circuit
  2. Check voltage and ground on the pump module
  3. Test the pump motor winding resistance
  4. Diagnose the transmission control unit for errors
