Symptoms

  • Check Engine light comes on
  • The car goes into emergency mode with power limitation
  • Unstable engine operation at idle
  • Delayed response when pressing the gas pedal
  • Possible jerks during acceleration

Causes

  • Malfunction of the accelerator pedal position sensor (PDS2 or LPDS)
  • Damaged wiring or poor contact in the sensor circuit
  • Short circuit or break in the wiring harness
  • Sensor power problems
  • Malfunction of the engine control unit (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Check error codes in ECU memory
  2. Inspect the connectors and wiring of the pedal sensors
  3. Check resistance and voltage on sensors
  4. Compare sensor readings using a diagnostic scanner
  5. If necessary, replace the faulty sensor or repair the wiring
