Symptoms
- Check Engine light comes on
- The car goes into emergency mode with power limitation
- Unstable engine operation at idle
- Delayed response when pressing the gas pedal
- Possible jerks during acceleration
Causes
- Malfunction of the accelerator pedal position sensor (PDS2 or LPDS)
- Damaged wiring or poor contact in the sensor circuit
- Short circuit or break in the wiring harness
- Sensor power problems
- Malfunction of the engine control unit (rare)
How to Fix
- Check error codes in ECU memory
- Inspect the connectors and wiring of the pedal sensors
- Check resistance and voltage on sensors
- Compare sensor readings using a diagnostic scanner
- If necessary, replace the faulty sensor or repair the wiring
