Symptoms

Causes

• Fuel cap sensor malfunction
• Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
• Poor contact in wiring connectors
• Damage to the fuel tank cap
• Problems with the engine control unit (rare)

How to Fix

1. Check the condition of the fuel tank cap
2. Inspect the sensor wiring and connectors
3. Check the sensor resistance with a multimeter
4. Replace the fuel cap sensor if necessary
5. Reset the error code and check for its reappearance
