Symptoms

Causes

• EGR cooler bypass position sensor malfunction
• Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
• Poor contact in sensor connectors
• EGR cooler bypass valve malfunction
• Problems with the engine ECU

How to Fix

1. Check the continuity of the bypass position sensor circuit
2. Inspect the connectors and contacts of the sensor for corrosion
3. Check resistance and sensor signal
4. Check the mechanical operation of the bypass valve
5. If necessary, replace the EGR cooler bypass position sensor
